When we are travelling in a car or any other transport
Question
When we are travelling in a car or any other transport, we switch off the radio when we are passing a Muslim graveyard. Must the same be done when passing a Christian graveyard?
Answer
Muhtaram / Muhtaramah
In the Name of Allāh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāh wa-barakātuh.
In principle, there is no need to switch off the radio whether you are passing a Muslim or a non-Muslim graveyard. However, visiting or passing a graveyard should make a person reflect over death and draw him/her closer to the obedience of Allah.
And Allah knows best
