Can you please clarify the minimum awrah for a woman wishing to recite the Holy Qur’an either by looking inside or by mind.?
Answer
Muhtaram / Muhtaramah
In the Name of Allāh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāh wa-barakātuh.
The Fuqahaa have mentioned that a person intending to recite the Quran should present himself in the best possible manner, donning good clothing, since honouring and respecting the Quran is waajib. (Fatawaa Al-Hindiyya, vol 5, pg316, Rasheediyya)
Therefore, dressing in a manner that does not befit the respect and honour for the Quran should be avoided.
The minimum aurah which women should observe at all times should be observed when reciting the Quran. However, such dressing does not befit the respect of the Quran.
رجل اراد ان يقرا القران فينبغي ان يكون علي احسن احواله يلبس صالحح ثيابه و يتعمم و يستقبل القبلة لان تعظيم القران و الفقه واجب (فتاوي الهندية)
والقراءة في الحمام ان لم يكن فيه احد مكشوف العورة و كان الحمام طاهرا تجوز (غنية المتملي 496 سهيل اكيدمي)
