Title
It is mentioned in Taleemul Haq that one is allowed to perform salaat
Question
Q1-It is mentioned in Taleemul Haq that one is allowed to perform salaat in the sitting position when a sick person is able to stand but cannot go in to Rukoo or Sajdah but other Ulama say that if a person has the strength to stand even for a little while then it is Farz to stand so i would like to know what is the Rajeh Qoul?
Q2-In the above situation if its Farz to stand and a person because unable to do sajdah prayed the whole salaah sitting down then is it compulsory to repeat the salaah?
Q3-If a person is unable to do sadah on the ground then is it compulsory to do sajdah on Table etc?
Answer
Muhtaram / Muhtaramah
In the Name of Allāh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāh wa-barakātuh.
A1. There are two issues under discussion in your query. One is when a person has difficulty in standing and the other is when a person has difficulty in performing ruku or sajda but has the ability to stand. In the first issue i.e. when a person has difficulty in standing, then he should stand for that portion of time which he his able to stand for and thereafter he may sit. If he is unable to stand at all, then he is permitted to sit for the complete salah. In the second issue i.e. when a person has difficulty to perform ruku or sajda but has the ability to stand, then he should sit and perform salah and make ruku and sajda by signs i.e. he will bend a little forward for ruku and bend a bit more forward for sajda.
A2. If a person is unable to perform sajda then he should sit and perform salah, therefore there is no need to repeat the salah.
A3. If a person is unable to perform sajda then he should suffice by making signs as explained above. There is no need to make sajda on a table etc. If one does not make ishara (signs) but merely suffices on making sajda on something such as a table etc. then this will not be permissible.
