Question
Is Zakaah payable on the Nisaab amount? For example I have R10000 for one year. Do I pay on the full 10000 or only the Nisaab amount?

In the Name of Allāh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāh wa-barakātuh.
2.5% Zakat is payable on the full amount of R10 000 on condition one has the R10 000 for a whole year and is free of any debt. If there is any debt, that amount will be exempt from zakat. For example, the debt is R2 000. Zakat will be on
R8 000 and not on the entire amount of R10 000.
