Question

If you start salaah a minute before the time ends, and in the middle the next prayer time starts.  Does the prayer count?

Answer

Muhtaram / Muhtaramah

In the Name of Allāh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāh wa-barakātuh.

According to Shariah, if a person commences Salaah in the last minute of the time and the time for the new Salaah sets in (while one is in Salaah), the Salaah is valid. However, if one is performing Fajr Salaah and the sun rises, the Fajr Salaah becomes invalid. It is necessary to repeat the Fajr Salaah.
