Imam changing place after fard prayer
Answer
Muhtaram / Muhtaramah
In the Name of Allāh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāh wa-barakātuh.
The Imaam should change his place to perform the sunnah salaah. It’s makruh for the Imaam to remain seated in his place after the fardh salaah. It was the habit of Hazrat Abu Bakr and Hazrat Umar (R.A.) to move away after leading the salaah. For further daleel and understanding, you may refer to Badaa`i-us-Sanaa`iy of Allamah Kasaani Al-Hanafi.
