Question

what’s the jamiats view of people going out in jamaat and why do they have fixed time frames such as 40 day,4mnts etc. some are of the idea that one should practice dawah amongst family before preaching to others first. This is a topic we are discussing in the office at the moment and I had decided to seek advice form the experts. I am originally from South Africa but now living in UK.

Answer

Muhtaram / Muhtaramah

In the Name of Allāh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāh wa-barakātuh.

The Tableeghi Jamaat movement is an extremely blessed and accepted movement. One cannot ignore the tremendous changes the Tableeghi Jamaat has brought to the Muslim communities throughout the world. This in itself is a sign of the acceptance of this work in the eyes of Allah Ta’ala and the sincerity of the revivers of this noble effort.

The seniors of the Tableeghi Jamaat movement have stipulated certain time frames for going out in the path of Allah based on their experience and in the light of the benefits acquired during these time frames.Rather these are time frames stipulated by experienced and seasoned Tableeghi seniors who have witnessed various benefits derived if these time frames are adhered to.

There is no doubt that Da’wah should be given first to one’s family before preaching to others. However, the purpose of going out in Tableegh Jamaat is not only to preach. Rather, the primary objective in Tableegh is to reform one and thereafter to preach to family and others. Hence, there is nothing wrong in the system of the Tabligh Jamaat if strictly adhered to as prescribed by the Ulama of Tabligh in Nizamuddeen Markaz.

And Allah knows best.
