Question

If one read in the last tashahhud before the taslim:

”Allahumma inni a’udhu bika min adhabil qabri wa min adhabi jahannem wa min sharri fitnatil mahya wal mamat wa min sharri fitnatil masihid dajjaal.” and then after it ”Ya muqallibal qulub sabbit qalbi ala dinika” but then says (because of doubt that he recited the last part wrong) “wa min sharri fitnatil masihid dajjaal.” and then after it ”Ya muqallibal qulub sabbit qalbi ala dinika” again is this correct, or does he need to restart the duaa from the begin ?

If it happens with Surah Fatiha, i.e. that he recites after Surah Fatiha the basmala and the first words of the additional surah that is recited after Surah Fatiha, but then goes back (because of doubt that he recited the last part wrong)  to ”ghayril maghdubi alayhim….” and recites on from there, is this correct of should he restart Surah Fatiha from the begin ?

Was salaam

Answer

Muhtaram / Muhtaramah

In the Name of Allāh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāh wa-barakātuh.

The person should not reread the entire dua in this situation. If he is certain that he had erred he should repeat that specific part.

Likewise, in Surah Faatiha he should not start Surah Faatiha all over again.
