If there is a picture behind the praying person, is this makruh tahrimi or makruh tanzihi ?
What if the picture is outside the house but it can be seen from a window. There is outside my house a car parked with a logo as seen
This car can be seen from window of the room i am praying in. The window does fall behind me. As i am praying upstairs the car is parked at a distance of about 8 meters, and as i am upstairs i am looking down to the car. Does this make the salaah also makruh (and is it tahrimi or tanzihi) ? Must salaah be repeated if offered like this ?

In the Name of Allāh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāh wa-barakātuh.
We acknowledge receipt of your query with regards to the category of karaahat of performing salatwith a picture, which is on a car that is visible from your window, behind you. Our response follows:
The level of karaahat will be far less if the picture is behind the musalli as compared to if the picture were to be infront of the musalli. [Raddul Muhtaar v 1, p 648; Albahurr Raa’iq v 2, p 27; Tabyeenul Haqaa’iq v 1, p 414; An Nahrul Faa’iq v 1, p 284]
The reason for this is that if a person is reading salaat with a picture behind him then there is no similarity to those who worship pictures and statues as he is not facing the picture. Likewise, there is no appearance of revering the picture (by bowing or prostrating towards it) because the picture is behind him.

The aforementioned books state that there is a difference of opinion with regards to the karaahat if the picture is behind. The preferred view is that it will be makrooh based on the famous narration that Jibreel Alayhis Salaam did not enter the room of Aa’isha Radiyallahu Anha due to a curtain having the image of some animate object/s. Allamah Shaami Rahimahumullah states that in this instance (if the picture is behind) the karaahat will exist only if the picture is hung up or is a standing form as this is also indicative of showing reverence to the picture/form.[Raddul Muhtaar v 1, p 648, 649]
Therefore the picture outside the house/flat will not make the Salaah makrooh.
