In one of our local Masjid the senior Imam is a graduate of Binnori town (Karachi) & he is approximately 60 years old. Maulana ___ Saheb has asked me to put this question to a knowledgable Mufti on the Internet.

Last week the Mosque invited a Maulana from out of town, who is affiliated with Jamaat-e-Islami for a Hajj workshop and he spoke about several controversial matters to the upcoming Hajees which caused some confusion, although Maulana ___ Saheb has little understanding of English but he spoke about most of the matters right then and there and corrected the visiting Maulana, however in one of the Mas'ala Maulana ______ is not sure.

Visiting Maulana said that it is HARAM for a person to either cut his own hair or someone else's hair once he has finished all the rights/duties of Hajj while Maulana ____ said it is permissible to cut one's own hair and also someone's else; Maulana ____ has also double-checked "Umdatul-Fiqh" & "App Kay Masa'il Aur Unka Hal"

and the Mas'ala is written as Maulana _____ has stipulated.

He then spoke to a Shaykhul-Hadeeth (in UK) and he replied, "It is permissible for the person to cut his own hair after all the rights are finished but not someone else's"

The two Maulanas discussed the matter afterwards but the visiting Maulana would like to know the established opinion with an Athar and daleel (if possible).

Muhtaram / Muhtaramah

In the Name of Allāh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāh wa-barakātuh.

It is permissible for a muhrim (one in the state of ihram) to cut his own hair or another person’s hair, after he has finished all the duties of Hajj (i.e. after finishing rami and zabah on the 10th of Zil Hijjah).
