Question
My question concerns Taharaat:
1) When I wash my 2 year old daughter in the bathtub and there is a little bit white discharge left on her, and I pick her up with the towel, dry her and then notice some on her, is the towel napaak? I did not see any discharge on the towel, as I did not dry in that area, but just dried her legs, and around the area, not inside. Would the wetness from her leg that came on me also be napaak?
2) If a woman has a discharge problem, I have heard that in some cases some discharge is not considered impure. I would like to know if the color of the discharge renders it impure, or is all discharge considered impure.
3) Also, if a woman has a severe discharge problem and she washes herself, but she still has more left and she is taking a bath, and then she gets out of the shower, is the water below that area, including her legs impure? Sometimes I take long showers, continuously cleaning myself, as I try to remove all the discharge and then quickly leave the shower. If I happen to see a little left then I go back in the shower. Please let me know what I should do.
Answer
Muhtaram / Muhtaramah
In the Name of Allāh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāh wa-barakātuh.
- The wetness from your daughter’s legs on you will not be naapak.
- All discharges of a woman are impure.
- There is no need for you to remain in the shower to ensure all the discharge is cleared. When you finish your shower, you may make use of an absorbent, for example a pad, immediately after the shower and before drying yourself. In this way the discharge will be contained in the pad.
And Allah knows best
