May i ask a question please
Can a grandson direct his Zakaat towards his Naana [maternal grandfather] if the Naana is Zakaat deserving?
Answer:
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-Salāmu ʿAlaykum Wa-Raḥmatullāhi Wa-Barakātuh
In principle, Zakāt cannot be given to a person’s direct ascendants or descendants, such as parents, grandparents, children, or grandchildren etc.
Therefore, in the case under inquiry, you cannot direct your Zakāt to your Naana [Maternal Grandfather]. [1]
