KINDLY FURNISH ME WITH WARNINGS AND PUNISHMENTS FOR ZEENAH / ADULTERY, IN THE LIGHT OF THE HOLY QURA’AN AND THE HADITH OF NABI ALAIHIS-SALAAM . ENGLISH REFERENCE BOOKS IF AVAILABLE COULD BE POSTED?

Answer

Muhtaram / Muhtaramah

In the Name of Allāh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāh wa-barakātuh.

Allah Ta’ala states in the Holy Qur’aan: “And do not even go near fornication. It is indeed a shameless act and an evil way to follow.” (Surah Bani Isra’eel, Verse: 32).
This verse clearly purports the prohibition of Adultery (Zina). Given here is a reason why it is forbidden.
This is a shame, gross and immodest act. Whoever is denuded of modesty is denuded of human nobility itself and is rendered incapable of distinguishing the good from bad. This is more succinctly said in a Hadith: “When you lose your sense of shame and modesty, then do what you wish to do”. (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Hadith #: 6120)

Therefore, Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) has declared Hayaa (modesty) an integral part of Imaan. (Al-Bukhari)
It is mentioned in a Hadith narrated on the authority of Abu Hurairah (Radiallahu Anhu) that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, “The heavens and the earth, the seven of them each, curse the married person who commits adultery. The strong stench that spreads out from the private parts of such people will embarrass even those condemned to hell and thus they will suffer in hell with both punishment and disgrace. (Musnadul Bazzaar)

In another Hadith narrated on the authority of Abu Hurairah (Radiallahu Anhu), Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, “A fornicator, when fornicating is not a believer. A thief when stealing is not a believer. And a drunkard when drinking is not a believer. (Bukhari, Muslim)

The explanation of this as appears in another Hadith is that when a person commits Zina, his Imaan leaves his heart and hovers above his head. Until this person is not forgiven by Allah Ta’la, his Imaan will never enter his heart again.

It is narrated on the authority of Haitham ibn Malik At-Taa’ee that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, “Besides ascribing partners with Allah, there is no sin more severe and heinous in the sight of Allah than Zina”. (Ibn Kathir).

Besides the disgrace and punishment a person will have to face in the Aakhirah for committing adultery, there are repercussions of Zina a person will experience in this world as well. A person who commits the disgusting sin of Zina undergoes difficulty in this world like absence of Barakah in ones sustenance, absence of Barakah in one’s life, and there is a possibility that history will repeat itself where ones children and progeny will fall into this sin.
