Question:

Asssalam alaikum

Can we give Zakat in kind?

Not giving cash rather groceries or clothes books

Answer:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-Salāmu ‘Alaykum Wa-Rahmatullāhi Wa-Barakātuh.

Giving zakat in kind (such as groceries, clothes, books, or other items) instead of cash is also permissible. However, giving in cash is more preferable, as it is generally more beneficial for the poor, allowing them to purchase what they need according to their own circumstances.

Note: When zakat is given in kind, the value of the items must be taken into account when calculating the zakat amount.[1]

And Allah Ta’ala Knows Best.
