If a person living in Africa sends his Sadaqatul Fitr or Fidya to a poor person in Pakistan and pays according to the Sadaqatul Fitr rate of Pakistan, will his Sadaqatul Fitr/Fidya be discharged? Or is it necessary for him to pay according to the rate of the country in which he resides (i.e., Africa) even though it is being given to a poor person in Pakistan?

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-Salāmu ‘Alaykum Wa-Rahmatullāhi Wa-Barakātuh.
It necessary for the person paying Sadaqat ul-Fitr to pay according to the rate of the country in which he is residing.
However, if the rate of the other country (Pakistan) is higher than in the country of residence (Africa), the higher rate may be considered, as it is more beneficial to the poor.[1]
