Question
Allaahumma salliz a’laihe kalbaan min kilabika
As far as I am aware the prophet SAW used this du’a in one occasion only; viz, against one of the sons of Abu Lahab followed by severe consequence. My question is : is it a du’a or ba’d dua??
If it is a ba’d dua, am I allowed to use it when I am really oppressed by someone?
Answer
In the Name of Allāh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykumwa-rahmatullāhwa-barakātuh.
Nabi r was sent by Allah I as a mercy unto mankind. He was Arhamur – Raahimeen [most merciful of the creation]. There are many incidents that show his qualities of forgiveness and tolerance. Only on this occasion, due to the severe hurt caused to him and his daughter, did he invoke a curse on somebody. It is therefore encouraged that we make Du’aa rather than Badduáa.
And Allah knows best.
