question:
Please advise the following:
1) Is it makruh or haraam to read books/magazines in the toilet?
2) If one goes to toilet and washes oneself but as one stands up from the
Toilet, some of the water used to wash oneself trickles down ones legs,
Does this make one napaak?

In the Name of Allāh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāh wa-barakātuh.
- 1.The toilet is a place of filth and occupied by the jinns. In the toilet one is exposing his private areas. You should endeavour to spend as little time as possible in the toilet in the area of filth, exposing your private parts and risking the dangers of Jinns. Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم made the dua to Allah to protect him from the evil of the male and female Jinns (that are in the toilet).
- 2.After Istinja, the private areas are paak. The water trickling down will not cause one to be napaak.
