I received a question from a patient of mine regarding breast augmentation. The patient states that due to her breastfeeding her 2 kids for a long period of time, it caused her breasts to be abnormal in size and shape, her breasts before giving birth were normal. Her question was in her specific scenario and not for every woman is it permissible to do breast augmentation surgery firstly for normalisation of her breasts and secondly for her husband.

Respected doctor,
If there is a legitimate medical necessity due to any abnormality and a Muslim God-fearing doctor advices that the procedure should be done for health reasons, then it will be permissible to do cosmetic surgery in order to remove the anomaly. [1]
However, if the primary proposes of doing cosmetic surgery is to please one’s husband or to beautify oneself, then it will not be permissible. [2]
