MAS'ALA OF READING THE SUNNATS WHEN ON HOLIDAY
Question
1)WHATS THE MAS'ALA OF READING THE SUNNATS WHEN ON HOLIDAY OF MORE THAN THE SAFR AMOUNT?
2)WHICH AMOUNT IS THE CORRECT ONE, 77km OR 88km, AND FROM WHERE AND TILL WHERE DO YOU MEASURE THE SAFR AMOUNT?
Answer
Muhtaram / Muhtaramah
In the Name of Allāh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāh wa-barakātuh.
1. In principal, a musafir is exempt from the sunnat-e-muakkadah salats. It is advisable for a musafir if time permits that he performs the sunnat-e-muakkadah salats.
2. A person will become a musafir if he undertakes a journey of 78 kms or more. The amount will be calculated from boundary till boundary, not from point A of the journey to point Z of the journey. This is also the ruling of the Jameeatul Mufleen (Board of Muflis) comprising of 12 Darul Iftas.
And Allah knows best
