In our house we always practiced a habit of closing windows, curtains and
Doors just before Magrib . Is there any validity or sunnah in doing this.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāh wa-barakātuh.
Hadhrat Jabir t reports that Rasulullah r said: As night approaches restrain your children (from venturing outside) because the Shayaateen spread out at this time. Thereafter when some time after Esha passes you may release them. Also close your door whilst mentioning the name of Allah, put out your lanterns whilst mentioning the name of Allah. Fasten your Water skins whilst mentioning the name of Allah. Cover your utensils whilst mentioning the name of Allah even though you place something across it.” (Bukhari, Vol.1, Pg.425, Al Mizaan)
