QUALITY VS QUANTITY

To Carry Heavy Load Continuously and Its Effects: Studies in Industrial Issues and Prophetic Teaching.

Introduction

We do not revealed the Qu’ran upon you be afflicted with difficulty

Abu Amr reported that he said to Rasulullah r : “O Messenger of Allah, inform me a word in Islam that I will never ask anybody beside you” Rasulullah r reply: “Say, I have iman (true faith) with Allah then be firm in it”

In this hadith, it shows that Islam teaches us the complete way of life. Beginning from morning when we open our eyes until we sleep again, from managing the affair of the house to how to control the affair of the country, from birth to death.

Industry is one aspect of life in which many people spend their time. Some of the worker spent their time from 8.00 o’clock in the morning until 5.00 o’clock in the afternoon, some to the extent 12 o’clock in the night. Average people spent 9 hour of their life 5 days a week in their work place.

When the Quality and Quantity was discussed, especially in industry, the whole purpose is either to increase the profit or to minimize the loss.

There are many factors that increase profit; among the main factors are ‘Time Management’, ‘Human Factor’ and ‘Equipment’s Performance’. These three things will effects the productivity. Here we will discuss the ‘Human factor’

The loss can be minimize through

  1. Reducing defects in products.
  2. Implementing ‘Waste Management’.

In both aspects, the human factor is very important and given more preference because both depend on the human attitude and their ability. The way to enhance the ability of a human being is shown by our Prophet.

Sayyidina Abu Hurairah t narrated that Nabi r said: “Deen is easy, whoever makes it rigid will be overpowered, do it moderately or something close to moderate, give glad tidings and seek help from Allah at morning and evening and some part of night.

In one narration: “Be moderate or close to it, and travel in some portion of the morning and evening and some part of the night, bit by bit you will reach the destination.”

Issues

Human’s are mostly used in carrying load especially in domestic work and short distance. In this case, some factors will effects the productivity.

  1. Weight of the load
  2. Distance between point A and B
  3. Human’s feature. (Age, stature, knowledge e.g. correct handling method etc.)

It will cause two types of effect.

  1. Short term effect. (tiredness (fatigue), thirsty, perspiration, asthma, injury etc)
  2. Long term effect. (back pain, pain in the joint area, fertility etc)

Sayyidatina A’ishah t reports that Rasulullah r said: “When one of you feels sleepy while you are performing solah, then you should rest until your sleepiness goes away, indeed if one of you perform your solah while you are slumbered, you will not know whether you are seeking forgiveness or rebuking yourself”.

The best condition to execute the task is when a person is fully aware with what he is doing. His body and mind are prepared for the job, so that he produces the good result.

Suggestions

1

Carry loads in moderate weight

To carry the load in a moderate weight reduce the amount of load. This is better than carrying a heavy weight in one time i.e. if a person carries a large amount of load, it will cause tiredness in a short period of time and effect to the continuity of the work.

Sayyidatina A’ishah t narrated the prophet r came in when a woman was sitting beside me, “Who is she?” I said: “She is the one whose salah has become the talk of the town.” Addressing her, Nabi r said: “What is this! It is incumbent upon you only what you can carry out easily. By Allah, Allah does not withhold his mercy until you give up. Allah likes those deeds best which a worshipper can carry out constantly.

Using the help of equipments

Allah intend good for you not the difficult

There are many devices to move materials from one work station to the next included conveyor-belt systems, monorail trolleys, and various pulley arrangements.

Make a human chain

Pass the load from one another, but this is suggested only when the load is not so heavy. The heavy load will cause injuries.

Zaid bin Khalid al-Juhani narrated Rasulullah r said: “He who equip a warrior in the way of Allah will get the reward of the one who has actually gone for jihad, and he who looks after the family of a warrior in the way of Allah will get the reward of the one who has gone for jihad.

This hadith encouraged us to help each other in carry out the good deeds. That person whose help other to do the good deed will get the same reward as a person who did that actual good deed.

Conclusion

From the above discussion, it shows that the prophetic teaching encompass every aspect of our life. Our success in this world and hereafter is only lies in following the Sunnah of our beloved Nabi r.
