Title
Is it permitted in Islam to stretch our feet towards Kaaba?
Question
I have gone through your article regarding the direction of toilets towards Kaaba and really i was pleased to c such good article. On the the same way I want to find any reference in Quran or Hadith regarding the stretching our feet towards Qibla while sitting or sleeping. As i have seen many people practicing this. Is it permitted in Islam to stretch our feet towards Kaaba?

Answer
Muhtaram / Muhtaramah
In the Name of Allāh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāh wa-barakātuh.
Allah Ta’ala mentions in the Holy Qurān
ذلك ومن يعظم شعائر الله فإنها من تقوى القلوب
‘Whosoever respects the symbols of Allah, that is from the piety of the hearts.’ (Al-Qurān 22:32)
The Qiblah is amongst the symbols of Allah. We should honour, respect and revere the symbols of Allah. Facing our legs towards the Qiblah is a sign of disrespect.
It is Makrooh (detestable) for a person to stretch his legs towards the Qiblah.
