The world cup is going on.
Kindly advise will it be permissible to watch and follow all the matches?
Will me support any team be incorrect as I beleive that is my team.
Answer:
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-Salāmu ‘Alaykum Wa-Rahmatullāhi Wa-Barakātuh.
It is not permissible to watch or follow the World Cup matches or to support the teams.[1] As a Muslim, one should be involved in those activities that are productive and beneficial to oneself and to others with the intention of pleasing Allāh.[2]
