Question:

If one’s parents are self-sufficient, can they prevent their son from going on Nafl hajj, umrah, i’tikaaf, tabligh etc.?
Answer:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-Salāmu ‘Alaykum Wa-Rahmatullāhi Wa-Barakātuh.

As long as the parents are not dependent on his financial and physical aid, they should not prevent him from these Nafl Ibaadaat. [1]

However, it is better if the son persuades them and gets their consent and Duas before leaving for these Ibaadaat.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows Best.
